  • The SmallRig Multi-Functional Cold Shoe Mount is a small but important rig part that I mount on a top handle when I need an extra shoe exactly where I want it. It is especially useful for audio accessories like transmitters and microphones, or for any small accessory that needs a safer, cleaner mounting point. It solves the problem of a cage or handle not having enough shoe mounts in the right place.

    The Good:

    • Adds a secure cold shoe point.

    • Safety release is useful.

    • Great for mics, receivers, and small lights.

    • Compact and inexpensive.

    • Helps customize cage and handle layouts.

    The Bad:

    • Only one mounting point, though adding more would make the accessory bulkier overall.

    • Get it if you shoot high-bitrate iPhone video.
