This smaller essential tech pouch is the one that lives in my camera bag. It carries the cables and dongles I might need in a pinch to charge gear, offload files, or transfer data with my iPhone or iPad when I am not bringing my laptop and full tech pouch.

I use an old Maxpedition pouch because it keeps small cables organized and easy to see, but the idea matters more than the exact pouch. Any small organizer works as long as it keeps the essentials accessible, rather than having them buried at the bottom of the bag.

For me, this is not meant to be a full travel tech kit. It is the backup layer: the small pouch that stays with the camera bag so I can solve basic power, charging, and transfer problems in the field.
