LP-E6P Battery Pack
Canon LP-E6P Battery Pack
-
Official Canon LP-E6P rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
High-amperage LP-E6-series pack for newer Canon bodies.
Commonly listed around 2130mAh / 7.2V class capacity.
Compatible with Canon LC-E6 / LC-E6E chargers.
Designed for recent mirrorless cameras such as the Canon R1, R5 Mark II, and R6 Mark III.
-
The Canon LP-E6P is the safest battery choice for modern Canon bodies that expect the newer high-output LP-E6 generation. It is not the most exciting accessory to buy, but it helps ensure that recent Canon mirrorless cameras can access their latest power-hungry features, including pre-burst and certain high-speed video modes.
It is also backwards-compatible with Canon cameras that accept LP-E6-style batteries. It would be overkill in something like a 5D Mark II, but for the Canon R5C, it makes a lot of sense. Honestly, given how demanding the R5C can be, this is the battery Canon probably should have released with that camera in the first place.
The Good:
Official Canon compatibility and battery communication.
Safer choice for demanding Canon bodies and newer video features.
Works with existing LP-E6-style Canon chargers.
Same price as the previous model, at least when bought new.
Gives the Canon R5C a welcome power boost.
Backwards-compatible with many older LP-E6 cameras.
The Bad:
More expensive than third-party LP-E6P-style packs.
Not a very exciting purchase, even if it is useful.
Overkill for older Canon bodies that do not need the higher-output pack.
-
Get it if your Canon body specifically benefits from or requires the LP-E6P.
Get it if you own a Canon R5C; in fact, get several.
Get it if you want the safest battery option for newer Canon mirrorless features.
Pass if your older Canon body does not need the newer high-output pack.
Pass if third-party batteries already work well enough for your lower-demand setup.
